EFIWE GISTS: I Owe Uites Because They Showed They Can Vote Without Sentiments - UISU President-Elect, Akeju Oluwasegun

In full declaration of Oluwasegun Akeju Ganiyu, a 400 Level student of the Faculty  of Law, as 2019 student union president elect, the victor has solely attributed his victory to the entire students of the university.
This he tells AFAS PRESS while being engaged in an interview on Sunday, 8th December, 2019.
The election, which held on Saturday, 7th November, 2019, foresaw Akeju emerge as the winner with a total vote of 2,753 while his major contender, Olofinade Oluwaseyi Ebenezer (Hessy), had amassed a total vote of 2,138 bearing a wide margin of 615 vote cast.
According to him, it was actually very impossible to have predicted his win as the report were initially not appealing but was glad UITES came to terms to vote for him in numbers at the end.
“Yes I actually thought we were losing because the report we were getting at a point was bad. I later got to know that there was actually no result at all. People were trying to get unstable but at the end of the day,the victory came.
The only thing I can say is that I owe Uites and no particular person this victory. I owe Uites in general because they actually showed that they can vote beyond sentiments and everything. The whole thing was looking impossible and we had spoken to people one on one. People really changed their mind. It was Uites, just Uites. They really tried yesterday”.
Emphasing on his words during the manifesto night to stick with the winning team, Akeju excert his total support if Hessy had won the election.
“If Hessy had won, I would have called him, showed support and offer him advice if he would accept it”.
