Popular UI comedian, Adejobi Gbolahan popularly known as GeeJokes has confirmed the rumoured news about him running for the post of a Senator in the forthcoming Elections in 2019.
In a video clip posted via his WhatsApp status, Gee Jokes revealed he would be representing Ibadan North as a candidate for senatorial elections in 2019. When Unibadan EFIWE had a quick chat with him to know if the rumoured news was real or another publicity stunt, He said;
This is not a publicity stunt, I'm for real. I would be running for the post of a senator in 2019 and I would love to be part of the young people who would bring a dramatic change to the political sector in Nigeria especially in Oyo State.
He also revealed why he chose Accord party over Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressive Congress (APC). In his words, He said;
Accord party has decided to give the youths a great chance in holding important posts in Nigeria and after I was given my membership card under the party, I decided It would be fit to run for the post of a Senator under Ibadan North Constituency. I believe it's time the youths stand up and take responsibility so we can make them know we are not Lazy Nigerian Youths.
He called on the support of all Students of the University of Ibadan and its environs, encouraging them to get their PVC so that they can also participate in the General Elections come 2019.
The renowned comedian intentions to run for a political post in Oyo State is coming weeks after Temitope Gideon popularly known as Temmy Gista announced he would also contesting in the 2019 Elections but didn't declare the post he would be running for or the political party he would be flagging with.
Although, reports has it that Temmy Gista could be running for a New Nigeria alongside Presidential aspirant, Femi Durotoye's political party since the two of them recently met in Ibadan and they discussed on how they can move the Country forward.
As its stands, Temmy Gista & Gee Jokes might compete against each other during the 2019 Elections if Temmy Gista decides to go for a Senatorial post also.
