On Saturday 3rd of February 2018, Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan Class of 2017 comprising 9 departments held a classic luncheon and awards ceremony in grand style to celebrate their 4 years of academic sojourn and marking their exit as Undergraduates from the Premier University.
The remarkable and exciting gathering which was a beehive of uniformity in a colorful attire worn by the finalists was indeed a memorable one with series of activities to spice up the event as duly anchored by Ola Heritage and Oyewale Vagner love. The classy and first of it kind luncheon tagged "EGRESS" derived from a Latin origin which means "Exit", took place at the SUB Event Center, University of Ibadan and as such offered a veritable learning experience and remarkable platform to finalists at the event.
The event had in attendance the duo of Prof. Julius Ademokoya - Dean, Faculty of Education and Prof. Clement Kolawole - Quondam Dean, Faculty of Education and the Incumbent Head of Department Arts and Social Sciences Education and a host of finalists from various departments.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the EGRESS'17 Planning Committee (Class of 2017) - Ore Kelvin, he expressed delight and satisfaction with the dreams of the luncheon coming into limelight, He urged fellow class of 2017 members to exhibit their talents, ingenuity and creativity, garnered over the years, in the course of study here in University of Ibadan.
The NUESA President, University of Ibadan Chapter - Com. Awonusi Orimidara in his own remarks, He appreciated the presence of dignitaries present at the event. He furthermore congratulated his fellow colleagues who are members of class of 2017 for setting the landmark and pace for others to emulate.
In the remarks of the Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Julius Ademokoya, He commended the planning committee under the auspices of NUESA for organizing such a classic luncheon which is first of its kind. While giving his strong admonition to class of 2017 students, He gave a brief history of how he also sojourned as an undergraduate. He said "I'm impressed, your four years in faculty of education has not been a waste, with the knowledge in your mind, I'm very sure your future is bright". He furthermore said "The faculty owe you a lot of gratitude and appreciation for exemplary qualities displayed in all ramifications". He emphatically stated that the Faculty of Education class of 2017 is the best in all ramifications and as such they've made the faculty proud. He advised the class of 2017 students to remain focus and determined in life even as they sojourn through.
The Former Dean, Faculty of Education and Incumbent Head of Department Arts and Social Sciences Education, Prof. Clement Kolawole in his own remarks, commended the organizers of the event for doing something spectacular which has never been done before, he urged the finalists to take it upon themselves to be stand out differently and not expect any government to provide a job. While speaking on a lighter note, He stressed that without faculty of Education, there's no University of Ibadan.
Some of the recipients of various awards at the luncheon were Alao Abiodun (Most popular male), Ola heritage (Most popular female), Ore Kelvin (Political icon of the year), Onifade Bello (Most influential male), Akinnola Yetunde (Most influential female), Akano Ife (Ife fish) (Sport personality), Ore Kelvin (Finalist of the year), Adegbanke Segun G&C class rep (Most efficient class Rep), Adeniran Adekola (Most active departmental president), Awonusi Orimidara (Most friendly finalist male), Akinola Yetunde (Most friendly finalist female), Bola BB catering (Entrepreneur of the year).
