EFIWE INTERVIEW: I See The Union More Than Just A Pressure Group - UISU'17 Aspirant, Rhymer

Unibadan Efiwe brings to your Screen, another edition of #KnowYourAspirants2017 with Oizah of WOUWO as Augustine Uchechukwu aka Ryhmer talks about the Union, his reasons why He's vying for the post of General Secretary, Students' Union, University of Ibadan in a new Interview.

Read Below;

Can We meet you?

Good evening everyone. I'm Augustine Uchechukwu also known as Rhymer. A 200 Level Student of the department of Industrial Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences.

It's my privilege to be interviewed here. Thanks.

Any previous posts held or currently holding in UI?

Yes, I was the CBN Lecture Theater General Secretary 15/16 Session.

Why General Secretary?

"Venture always in what you know best, never gamble recklessly"

Besides being diligent in correspondence and record keeping, writing is my most auspicious talent. I wish for a position where I can fully exercise my skills to reflect in the entire good of my fellow students in UI.

Do you think the post needs an experienced mind? What experience do you have?

It doesn't necessarily need an experienced person however experience is an asset no matter how little.

Highlighting high school experience might seem funny but it depends on one's school and the responsibilities he might have faced.

I was the General Secretary of the Students' Council of my school in SS2.
I was also the CBN LT General Secretary as recent as last year.

The experience is an old feeling. Thanks.

What does UISU mean to you?

I see the Union more than just a pressure group(though very essential).

It is a platform for its members(students) who are focused towards fostering their social, academic and educative interests to achieve beyond these via able representation and active participation.
Thanks.

What's the role of Aluta for vibrant Unionism?

To start with, Aluta encompasses every viable means by which the students request and get what they believe they should have.

Its role cannot be undermined. The union is like a pressure group, Aluta is the breath of a pressure group. "Aluta is the breath of the union". Thanks.

How many Aluta have you participated in?

Two, the "No light and No water" Aluta then the "#FreeMote" too.

Do you see the need for a General Secretary to be Alutaistic? If yes, Why?

Sure. He should be.

By virtue of occupying a significant position in the Union's executive body, He should be able to push for the needs of those He represents.

What's the thin line between Rascality and Being Radical?

Rascality connotes a dogged disposition channeled towards a bad habit or behavior whereas Radical tilts towards being determined and strong-willed towards an enviable goal. They are both on different sides of the ying yang circle. Thanks.

What are the flaws of the current General Secretary?

Every person has flaws and that's why there should be a shift in power often.
One of the "to-dos" in my manifesto is to work on Adegbola Oluwafemi's flaws and that will have to stay secure for piracy purposes.  Thanks.

What are the flaws you have noticed and that you plan to correct if elected for the vibrancy of the Union?

I have them to myself sir. We all we know of them on the proposed day.
Nonetheless, if elected, my service will be at a hundred for the benefits of the union.  Thanks.

Come 29 April, Do you think you'll win at the polls? If yes why? And if you lose, are you ready to share your ideas with the eventual winner?

Zero doubt is wrong yet a resonating victory is not elusive. I think I will win. I will share ideas for sure if only the other will grant a listening ear. Thanks.

What's your stand on the no banner, poster recommendation of the hallowed chamber to the UISUEC?

The representatives are wise, that's why we gave them our mandate. However, I think some amendments can be made about it to suit a higher majority.
Thanks.

What defines the success of an SU dispensation?

Working together; streamlined to fight for our goals collectively.
Thanks.

Why are you better than your opponents?

Like I've said earlier, everyone has got strengths and weaknesses.

However, some are better at some things than the other. Experience counts no matter how little and securing a credible reputation is worth it. Thanks.

Your shout out/partisan shot?

Shout-out to all my friends who have worked with me and are still working in the VISIONARY TEAM. We share a common goal.

To every Uite who has visions to make things right and at the right time; he who believes in a brighter tomorrow. We will conquer together.

Come 29th April; Vote AUGUSTINE RHYMER UCHECHUKWU for GENERAL SECRETARY, STUDENTS' UNION, UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN and you will be glad you did.

Gratitude to WOUWO for this great privilege. Thank you one, thank you all.
