Meet Oluwapelumi Ovia Bamidele, a 300 Level Student of the Department of Microbiology, University Of Ibadan.

Pelumi hails from Edo State, attended Nickdel Private School for her primary education.  For Her Junior Secondary education, She attended Eyinni High School then later went to Alayande School Of Science where She spent 5 weeks before transferring to Federal Government Academy School Of Gifted And Talented in Suleja. Pelumi is a Female Photogrpaher and the CEO Of Ovia Reflex.

Tell Us About You, Your Family Background?

My name is Oluwapelumi Bamidele, a 300 Level Student of the Department of Microbiology, University Of Ibadan. 

I'm from Edo State, Akoko-Edo Local Government to be precise. I'm a Christian and the Second child of a family of three.

What Does Photography Mean to You?

Photography is a great part of my life, just as the mirror helps making people see a reflection of who they are, Photography makes me express who I am. It helps me reflect myself and personality through the pictures I create.

The more I take pictures, the more I discover my capability in life.


What do You think makes a memorable Photograph?

A picture with a good story.

What were the difficulties You encountered first starting Photography? 

One major difficulty was getting a camera to take pictures. I knew the techniques but didn't have a camera.


Who are some of your Favorite Classic Photographers, and How did they influence You?

I like TY bello, Eleano Goodrey, Demi Carson. Seeing their pictures, challenge me that if a fellow lady can do this then I can do better.

When You are out shooting—how much of it is instinctual versus planned? 

Most of my shoot are instinctual.

How has social media played a role in Your Photography?

Social media has been one of my best publicity medium especially Instagram and my Facebook page.


Why do You take photos?

I take pictures because I love doing so.

What is the Most Challenging part about being a Female Photographer for You?

Its quite challenging especially with some clients that have the mentally that Female are weaker vessels and can't get things done like their male counterpart but they got it wrong.

Describe your Photographic Style? How did You develop your style?

Artistic. I draw cartoons and portrait so I have been able to apply it in my editing.


What was your scariest moment as a Female Photographer?

None because I hardly get scared.

Describe a typical day in the life of Ovia?

I Pray, read novels, edit pictures and search for more informations about photography since it's dynamic, One needs to always be on the lookout for new ideas to boost their knowledge.


Among the gadgets that You own, is there something that You wish You hadn’t bought? Why?

No.

In the field, What are Your Settings?
Aperture –; Shutter Speed –; ISO –; Focus – Manual/Auto; Image Format – RAW/JPEG ?

I shoot more indoor than outdoor but when I'm shooting Outdoor using natural light, 
My settings are: ISO - 100 ; Aperture 3.5/5.6 depending on how much depth of field I want to get; Shutter speed is at 100/200; Image Format - RAW; Focus: Auto.


How do You educate yourself to take better Pictures?

Checking the internet and I subscribe to online website that sends me daily tips on how to make better pictures.


 I also get familiar with my environment knowing what people want and would appreciate.

What is the one thing You wish You knew when You started taking Photos?

Graphics designing, I wish I knew how to go about it well. I believe its intertwined and the knowledge makes one post-production better.

What is One question Nobody has ever asked You—that You wish they asked You?

Nothing.

How do you cope being a Student and also a Photographer?

Its not been easy but with God everything been possible but the truth is One out of the two would suffer. It depends on the one with a higher priority.


What do You do during Leisure?

I watch Movies.

Any Words/ Advice You Have For Other Photographers? 

Don't think you are there yet, don't stop learning.
