EFIWE NEWS: UI Students' Union Leadership Gives Clearer View Of Incident That Happened At The Police Headquarters, Oyo State @studentsunionui

University Of Ibadan Students' Union Leadership finally clears the air about the recent incident that happened at the Police Headquarters, Oyo State today.

According to the Press Statement We received by the SU Public Relation Officer, Alayande Ayantola, it reads:

"It behooves the Union leadership to give a clearer view of the rumour making the rounds about what happened at the Police Headquarters, Oyo state today.

As earlier posited, the leadership of the Union was invited to a meeting with the Commissioner of Police alongside members of the management, partcicularly from the Students' Affairs at about 1:00pm.

As part of His strategy to intimidate the Students present in order to succumb to the position of the Management, the Commissioner of Police attempted to ensure Student Leaders present were intimidated.

He made an expensive joke of ordering an arrest of student leaders who refused to write their names down on a paper meant to be documented. The Students at this point showed their resistance to this move."

"At that juncture, the CP and other Divisional heads realised that the students agitations were right and justifiable. There was a peaceful, placating and fatherly talk from the Commisioner of Police.

The Students then in turn made their grievances known officially to the legal unit of the NPF, Oyo state command through its Director of Legal Unit. The move of the CP was later recognized as a method of resolving the dispute."

" He has further requested for a peaceful resolution meeting with the leadership of students tommorrow. "

However, the Union leadership will like to discourage the entirety of Students from believing rumours and unverified News that make the round from different corners of sychophants and hypocrites whose words and actions are capable of making a mess of this struggle.

We say categorically that any news coming from whatever student news/media agency which has not yet been verified by the Union lesdeship should not be given credence.

The Union will also like to encourage its members to ensure that they watch out for and discourage the spread of statements which can cause division coming from whatever Student Platform unauthorized by the Union.

All necessary steps of the Union shall be communicated to Us Officially.
