EFIWE NEWS: UI Students Plan To Sponsor Other Nigerian Students From Proceeds Of Anthology Publication


Students of the University of Ibadan have released a publication titled Memoirs Of Nigerian University Students (MONUS, pronounced "moan us"). The publication is a collection of over 100 true-life stories of University students across over 70 Nigerian Universities, including University Of Ibadan, LAUTECH, UNILAG, UNIBEN, FUOYE, BABCOCK, AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY e.t.c

The publication contains true-life stories that are based on themes like #sexforgrade, cultism, rape, university frustrations, tales of triumph, struggles and trials. The aim of the publication is to get both national and International attention to University education in Nigeria for the purpose of inciting sustainable change and development in Nigerian Universities.

The publication was created in partnership with Tell!, Okadabooks, Bambooks and The University of Ibadan Literary and Debating Society.

The publication cost only N200 and it seeks to reach a target of 20,000 downloads. The publication also seeks to support 10 University students from low-income families with N100,000 each to cover tuition and other expenses from the money generated if it reaches its target of 20,000 downloads.

This year's edition of the publication was guest edited by the investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo and the foreword was written by Mayowa Tijani, business development head @ theCableng.
