DISTANCE LEARNING CENTRE (DLC)
UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN, IBADAN

2016/2017 ACADEMIC SESSION: AN UPDATE

The DLC Management wishes to reiterate the decisions taken in view of the ASUU strike, which has just been suspended. You would recall that the strike led to the suspension of the first semester examinations. With due cognizance to the nature of Open and Distance Education, consultations are being initiated to forestall such future occurrences.

In this light, please disregard the information being circulated that first semester examinations would be rewritten. The decision of the DLC is that outstanding first semester examinations would be written during the second semester examinations. Plans are afoot to design the examination time table to make it seamless for affected learners.

It is quite regrettable that whilst some concluded their examinations, some learners had outstanding examinations, ranging from one to five papers. This is a peculiar situation which we shall overcome by God's grace.

As the deployment of first semester Continuous Assessment is nearing completion, learners are strongly advised to engage in self study for the second semester. Course Materials are available for download. The DLC online mediative platforms are also available. Do take advantage of these platforms. A reviewed second semester timetable would be broadcast in the coming week. Be aware that interactive sessions would be scheduled to commence in earnest.

The Director, Professor Oyesoji Aremu, wishes to reassure learners that the 2016/2017 academic session would be concluded by December, 2017. Therefore, your cooperation in complying with the requirements of the second semester schedule is highly solicited. Concessions would not be given to any category of learners who do not meet up at anytime. Stabilizing the DLC procedures largely depends on this.

Thank you and God bless.
