EFIWE NEWS: Resolutions Of The Council At The Inaugural Sitting Held On Saturday 20th May, 2017


The following resolutions were made by the Council at her first sitting held on 20th May 2017 on various issues which were thoroughly discussed at the floor of the House:


● That the request of the Students' Union President for  a Congress of the Union on Wednesday May 24th, 2017 be approved by the Council for Saturday 27th May 2017.


●On the issue of the electoral petitions: That the Electoral Committee should conduct another election at Independence Hall and Abdussalaam Abubakar Hall constituencies; particularly that should in case election is not held in Abdussalaam Abubakar Hall, Representatives should be nominated in order to ensure the Constituency is not totally disenfranchised in the Council.




●That the recommendation of the Joint Committee on Miss Aderoju's Case be accepted.

 The committee recommends to the Council that;


 (a) a well detailed report should be written by the Council informing Uites that Miss Aderoju Okunsanmi has been cleared of misappropriating a sum of ₦799,990 having provided receipts evidence of the expenditure covering such amount. The detailed report to be written by the Council should be given a wide coverage so that an average Uite can be intimated.


(b) Miss Aderoju remains uncleared of misappropriation and mismanagement of funds of the Union and the initial punishment of the Council should be upheld until Miss Aderoju Okunsanmi explicitly explain how a total amount of ₦4,508,185 was spent during the 2016 Students` Union week. Such explanation will include provision of receipts by Miss Aderoju Okunsanmi covering ₦4,508,185 to the audit committee since the administration has expired.

 
●A bill for the inclusion of the Security in the Standing Committee of the Union sponsored Hon. Boniface James and the Special Persons Amendment Act 2017 sponsored Hon. Ibrahim Asiwaju were passed into Law.


●On The 21st May 2017 at exactly 3:28 pm the 6th Assembly was desolved.

●The Council elected Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Asiwaju Abayomi from Sultan Bello Hall Constituency as the Speaker of the 7th Assembly.

●The Council elected Hon. Chimezie Vivian Chinonye from Obafemi Awolowo Hall Constituency as the Deputy Speaker.

●The Council elected Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi Ozorya from Nnamdi Azikwe Hall Constituency as the Clerk.


● Hon. Sodiq Kolade of kenneth Mellanby Hall Constituency was elected as Chief Whip of the 7th assembly.
