EFIWE INTERVIEW: I Love Being In Front Of The Camera And Being In The Spotlight - Miss Grand Tourism 2016, Yaboh Emmanuella


Meet Yaboh Emmanuella, a 400 Level Student of the Department of Agricultural Extension And Rural Development, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Ibadan.

Ella is a Student Model, Aspiring Philanthropic and She was crowned Miss Grand Tourism 2016 after She emerged as Miss Grand Nigeria 2016 1st Runner Up.

Unibadan Efiwe met up with the Young and Pretty Model and She shared a lot about Her Modelling Career, Goals and many more in New Interview.

Can We Meet You??

I'm Yaboh Emmanuella, a 400 Level Student of the Department of Agricultural Extension And Rural Development, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Ibadan.

Why are you interested in Modelling?

I'm interested in Modeling because its a way I get to be and express myself. I love being in front of the camera and being in the spotlight.



You recently won Miss Grand Tourism 2016, How do you feel after you emerged as Miss Grand Nigeria 2016 1st Runner-Up?

So far, it has been one of my greatest accomplishments but its just a stepping stone. I thank God for it but, I know I have greater achievements for me.

Tell Us your experience during Miss Grand Tourism 2016?

My experience was beyond amazing, we learnt so many health and beauty tips, we had lots of good food and also fitness trainings. There was wi-fi all over the hotel we stayed. *smiles*

What are your Goals as a Model?

It has always been my dream to be Miss World because of the philanthropic duty that comes with it. Modelling is something I do for fun for now.

Tell Us the challenges You face as a Model?

The major challenge is being a student, the tight schedule and all. I've had several job opportunities that I couldn't go for because I was unable to travel.


Who are some of Your favorite Models and Designers and Why??

Both Local and Foreign, My favourite models include Powede Lawrence, Tyra Banks, Winnie Harlow and Agbani Darego because they are Beautiful, strong, independent women and they are awesome in what they do. 

For designers, I love Yomi Casual, Mai Atafo, Anl by Annielash, Rikaotobyme (Local) because they are all outstanding. 

I have a wide range of international designers I love so, I can't really pick favourites yet.


How has Modelling changed other aspects of Your Life?

Modelling has given me the opportunity to meet lots of wonderful people in the Nigerian Entertainment Industry.

Tell Us about your Family Background?

I'm the first child of 4( two boys two girls), We are 6 in my home including my parents. My mum works in the educational system while my dad works with the media maybe, that explains my love for spotlight.

Are You Signed to any Modeling Agency?

No, I'm not signed to any modelling agency. I'm a Freelance model but presently, I have a brand I represent which is "Qla Nigeria", the Company in charge of Miss Grand Nigeria pageant.

What's Your own definition of Advertisement Industry and Photography?

I see Advertisement Industry as a way of bringing out the best of products or brands through people while Photography is an art, it is a way of expressing onself through images.


What else do you do aside being a Model?

Asides School work, basically most of what I do centres around modelling. I judge in pageants, I  manage and train people for pageants (catwalk, speech, answering questions and so on), help girls get modelling and ushering jobs.

 I teach children and teenagers in schools and churches dance routines whenever they have programs or presentations.


Describe a typical day in the life of Emmanuella?

A typical day, I wake up, thank God for life, check my phone and eat then I carry on with my plans for the day. 

I ensure that whatever I do, I'm happy doing it or wherever I find myself, I'm happy being there then I end the day with gratitude to God.

What's your favourite Quote?

"Think like a queen, a queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is only a stepping stone to greatness"

If You could have One Super Power, what will that be and Why? 

I would love to have the ability to heal. Just lay my hands on cancer and the cells begin to renew and replicate the normal way.

 I would want to have this so I could help relieve people of the pain and suffering they go through whenever they are diagnosed of deadly diseases.


How has Social Media played a role in your Modelling?

Social media has actually played one of the greatest roles, I knew about miss Grand Nigeria through social media, I've gotten jobs and connections by DMs.

I've met people just by clicking "like" on their photos and so on.

What's your own Definition of Tourism?

Okay I'll define Tourism as sightseeing, traveling to visit places of great historical background, places of wonder either natural or man made and appreciating the beauty and the art that comes with them.


In what ways do you think Tourism can help the Nigerian Economy?

Tourism would definitely help the Nigerian economy because Nigeria is blessed with so many beautiful and unique tourist attractions. 

For example, Ikogosi warm and cold spring where warm and cold water meet at a point. 

Tourist sights attract people. 

If our tourist destinations in Nigeria are well managed, we would have people traveling from all over the world to see the wonders of Nigeria.

 It would serve as a great source of income, attract foreign investors and partnerships, which would in turn boost the economy.

Yes, I'm in a Relationship.


Where do you see yourself in the Next 3 - 4 Years?

A successful graduate, top model and a philanthropist.

Olumo rock, Idanre hills, Erin-Ijesha water fall, Obudu cattle ranch, Whispering palms

Any Words/Advice for other aspiring to be a Model?

Don't give up, keep praying, keep trying, and don't relent on your efforts. Never go through extreme or desperate measures, just believe in God. 

Be vigilant as there are many scam agencies/pageants/platforms out there. 

Believe in yourself and take things a step at a time.
