Nigeria U17 women team dismissed Queens football league All Stars 8-1 in a friendly match in Abuja on Saturday as they continue preparation for the Fifa U17 Women’s World Cup.
Rasheedat Ajibade’s treble, Chidinma Okeke and Folashade Ijamilusi’s brace plus Cynthia Aku’s strike helped Bala Nikyu’s girls whitewash the Lagos based side, with Esther Ikechukwu getting the consolation for the visitors.
“It is a great joy seeing the girls scoring lot of goals today [Saturday] amd getting the victory,” Nkiyu told Goal.
“But that is not our priority and such performance will be distract us because our focus is more on seeing the players understand themselves more and convert their chances,” he concluded.
The friendly encounter was the third match in space of one-week for the Flamingoes after they earlier recorded 4-0 and 2-1 win against Sure Babes and Confluence Queens respectively.
Nikyu’s girls sealed their fifth World Cup appearance following two-legged victories against Namibia and South Africa, netting 16 goals without conceding in the process.
